ATEQ is Available to Provide Consulting and Leak Testers For LiDAR Sensor Leak Testing Applications.

LiDAR, typically used as an acronym for “’light detection and ranging’”, is essentially a sonar that uses pulsed laser waves to map the distance to surrounding objects-a 3D environment mapper. Lidar sensors can be used in any situation where the structure and shape of Earth’s surface needs to be known and has hundreds of applications including robotics, security, mapping and autonomous vehicles. Learn about more LiDAR applications here. LiDAR sensors continuously rotate and generate thousands of high-speed laser beam pulses per second all around the vehicle. Along with cameras, LiDAR is becoming a popular technology to use in the development of autonomous vehicles. Devices that are exposed to the elements, like LiDAR sensors, are always at risk of malfunction due to water exposure, but waterproofing the device can improve the confidence of the product’s reliability no matter what product the sensor is used in. In order to be waterproof, a device has to be leak tested. If a leak rate is below the manufacturer-specified leak rate the sensor can be considered airtight enough to be classified as being “waterproof”.
