ATEQ is Available to Provide Consulting and Leak Testers For Antenna Leak Testing Applications.

Antennas use transmitters to send a signals which are interpreted by a receiver. They have many uses from radio to wifi and come in all different sizes, shapes and applications. Mobile phones can contain anywhere from four to 13 different antennas. There are at least four transmitters and/or receivers in mobile phones made today: cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Smaller IoT devices, like smartwatches and fitness bands, usually have one, maybe two, antennas. Mobile phone antennas are tiny board-mounted chip antennas contained inside the mobile device.

Devices that are exposed to the elements are always at risk of malfunction due to water exposure, but waterproofing the device can improve the confidence of the product’s reliability whether it be a small antenna inside a smartphone or a giant outdoor antenna. In order to be waterproof, a device has to be leak tested. If a leak rate is below the manufacturer-specified leak rate the antenna can be considered airtight enough to be classified as being “waterproof”.
